Growing and Sharing our faith in God

From the Pastor

June 2010

Ministry Assessment and Planning Process (MAPP) reaches a milestone!

Saturday, May 22, the MAPP leadership team met to review our work and embrace the journey God is calling us to take. Throughout the last several months we have sought God’s Power and Spirit (GPS) to guide and direct us on this journey. But, as in many journeys, we need to prepare for the journey with a plan, gather resources, and keep our destination in sight. From the beginning of this process we have recognized a top concern:
We must passionately embrace and commit to our true purpose as a local church of leading others to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, even though it will require us to make some changes.
This priority came out of our discernment and evaluation phase, and is as valid as ever. Within this statement is found the source of our Vision, Mission and Core Values statements.

Imagine, if you will, a first time visitor asking these questions:
Visitor: Why is Chillicothe First church here? What is your purpose?
Answer: We are on a journey to glorify God, bring people to Jesus and grow in our relationship with Him.
Visitor: What is the destination of your journey? What is your Vision?
Answer: Our destination is to be a welcoming people, passionately serving God as a growing vital presence in our community.
Visitor: Why are you on this journey? What are your Core Values
Answer: Because we strongly value growing and sharing our faith in God.

The Communication Team will soon share more with you about the Four Top Ministry Priorities that will serve as our call to action. They are:
Unity in Action
Relevance to Our Mission Field
Servant Leadership Development
A Blueprint for the Future

These priorities will not only call us to change, but will enable us to make those changes to face our concerns, empower our mission, establish our values and keep us focused on our destination.

Through MAPP (Ministry Assessment and Planning Process), with our GPS (God’s Power and Spirit), we are embarking on a great adventure! Join us in the journey!
